Volleyball
Since the beginning of November the students have been working on volleyball skills. The kindergarten and grade 1 students have been learning skills using balloons while the grades 2-6 are using their choice of soft volleyball trainers or real volleyballs. They have been learning how to pass the ball with their forearms and their hands. The division 2 students are now learning how to serve. Ask your child to show you their impressive technique at home (with a balloon to preserve all lamps and dishes!)

Gymnastics
K-6 classes are involved in a gymnastic unit at the moment. We began the unit January 9th and it will end on February 7th. The students are very excited to be moving on the various pieces of equipment that, with the help of the Physed Leadership students we have out in the gym. We have benches, mats, crash mats, bars, trestles, balance beams, and slides in stations that the children rotate through in a gym class. We explore movement in a variety of ways making shapes, travelling different ways, holding balances, changing directions.......... The children's comments are "This is fun!" "Look what I can do!" "Watch me!" "I never knew I could do this hard movement!"
Gr. 4, 5, and 6 Speed Skating
For the past few years we have been inline skating in the gym. We now have an opportunity to try out something new. Grades 4, 5, and 6 will be speed skating at the Olympic Oval in February. The students will do a dryland training session in the gym before they go skating at the oval. Alien Inline will provide speed skating instructors for the two times the children will be on the ice at the oval. Please have your child return the permission slip as soon as possible so they will not miss out on this opportunity. Thankyou
